What is Neural Therapy?

Neural therapy involves very superficial injections just under the skin.

It's used for treating dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system which can result in a wide ranges of issues & disease. The autonomic nervous system regulates most of the functions of the body: hormones, breathing, digestion, blood pressure, immune system, sexual & reproductive function among others.

What does it do?

The largest part of the effect of neural therapy is as a nerve block - injecting procaine near nerve ganglia we can effectively block nerve impulses. There's a lot about resting membrane potential that I won't fully explain here, but to summarise: a damaged or irritated nerve is more sensitive to stimuli. Even a light touch, even the feeling of clothes on the skin can cause the nerve to send a pain signal. Repeated exposure to local anaesthetic (such as procaine) can restore the nerve to a state where it's less liable to send unnecessary pain signals.

It's a very effective treatment but while relief can be quick, lasting results take several treatments to resolve chronic pain and illness. Similar to acupuncture treatment, we're trying to reset the body to a new, healthier normal - just with faster and stronger results.

What does it treat?

Neural therapy offers some unique treatment options and also can treat pain and inflammation stronger and with less pain than acupuncture or IMS treatments

  • Scars
  • Concussion
  • Headaches
  • PTSD
  • Acute & chronic pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Deep abdominal and pelvic pain
  • Dental pain
  • Prostatitis
  • Rheumatism
  • Shingles

What does it cost?

Treatments are around $100. Unlike an acupuncture treatment which usually takes 5-10 minutes to insert needles injection therapies are much more involved requiring the practitioner to be treating for much the length of the appointment.

For complete information on payment types we accept as well as insurance billing, please visit our section on payment types on the About the Clinic page.

What are my other options?

Neural therapy does things that acupuncture, even other injection therapies just can't.
It's a unique treatment choice that is not only very gentle but very effective at treating many conditions.

Acupuncture and trigger point injections are very effective at treating neck pain and headaches as well as many cases of pain but for treating scars and concussion, even for PTSD the effect of neural therapy has proven more effective than other treatments we've seen at this clinic.
